I grew up in eastern North Carolina with a very creative and hands-on family. Although my father could build almost anything, my mother was the artsy/craftsy one and loved nothing better than sharing her knowledge and love of creating with her children. I have inherited this love of working with my hands and sharing what I know with others. My husband, Henry, and I were not able to add children to our lives, but as a school teacher for years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with many young minds who shared my love of crafts. I sponsored many craft clubs including knitting, Zentangle®, One-Stroke Painting®, etc. and found these times with my club students to be some of the most calming and enjoyable times of my teaching.
Six years ago, I opened an online yarn shop, The Irresistible Ewe, looking ahead to retirement and being able to commit myself to crafting full time. In 2014, I split my etsy store into two shops. My second shop, Tangled Moons, centers around paper crafting, specializing in explosion boxes.
I retired June, 2015 after 31 years in education. I have loved the time spent at home in my craft studio, exploring new venues and caring for my two elderly cats and boisterous Maltipoo.
I’m finding more of my customers are requesting customized boxes. I think Stampin’ Up! stamps, dies and papers are a wonderful blend for my paper crafts and give that special one-of-a-kind personalized look.
I have just signed on as a Stampin’ Up demonstrator with Pam Staples as my up line. I’m so looking forward to being a part of this wonderful company, meeting new crafters and sharing my love of crafts full time.
