This is a wedding gift for our nephew. I did the stamping and my SIL did the beautiful quilting.
We picked out the colors for the blocks, I stamped in craft ink on pre-washed muslin and heat set with a dry iron. Then, we laid it out on the floor with the colors we selected to see how the blocks should be put together. Jeanne sketched it so she'd have the info handy when piecing the quilt. She stitched the blocks together with her sewing machine and hand quilted around all the stamped images and in the borders and blocks. You can't see it, but in the outside border is a heart border done in hot pink stitching. Lots of love in this gift.
The interesting thing was that the basis for the quilt was a very cool green that we picked for the outside border and we matched all the shades we picked to that. When we went to lay it out, however, we found that the green really took away from the whole effect. My BIL made the suggestion to go with the black. We were afraid that it would too kidlike with all the primary colors, but I don't think that happened at all.
It really is stunning and I give 95% of the credit to my SIL. Its name is "Fall Passage" since it's for Brian and Joann's wedding.
