Altered Datebook

Added by My Project Ideas Category : Papercrafting&gifts Difficulty : A Step Up (Medium)

Every Christmas I design an altered date book gift for my sister.  It revolves around a quote from one of our favorites in the "Outlander" series books by Diana Gabaldon.  (If you have not read the books yet--do so as fast as you can!)  This year I chose to quote from "Drums of Autumn"--'Da mi basia mille, dein mille altera.'  Translated from Gaelic this means 'Give me a thousand kisses, then a thousand more.'  As a starting point, I used a cutout from an old calendar for the colors.  Card deets--Cardstock:  Island Indigo, Perfect Plum.  Smoky Slate ink was sponged along all edges to give a bit of distressing.  The 2 scrollie things are a corner punch.  I attached a heart/key charm with a pewter brad.  On the back is a dragonfly brad--symbolic to the book "Dragonfly in Amber" in the series.  I then used sticky strip to attach it to a Target "dollar spot" date book.  The hardest part is always trying to decide which quote to use!
