NC Demos April Blog Hop - Celebrate All the Special Women in Your Life This Mother's Day!

Good evening!  If you are just joining us welcome to the NC Demos Blog Hop.  If you are coming from Melissa's blog I know you had a real treat with her project!

This month I want to share a sort of non-traditional twist on Mother's Day.  I am very lucky to have have lovely and sweet mother, but many of my friends do not. I also have friends and family who do not have children of their own or have lost a child.  These things can make Mother's Day a difficult holiday for them. So, I like to think of Mother's Day as a day to not only tell my mom I love and appreciate her, but I like to do the same to my two amazing s.isters and dear friends.  So, my card is not traditional.  It doesn't even say, "Happy Mother's Day."  It says, "What a beautiful blessing you are to me." I think it would be a great card to tell any of the fabulous women I am fortunate to have in my life just how special them are to me!

With that all said here are the details on how to make th
is simple, but I think elegant card.  Cut your Fresh Fig cardstock (yes, this is a new In Color for 2017-2018) 4 1/4 x 11 and score at 5 1/2.  Then cut your Very Vanilla THICK cardstock 4 x 5 1/2.  Yes, that is a sneak peek, too!  You can get both of these and the pretty gold lace sticker I also used as a part of the Eastern Palace Bundle starting tomorrow!  Email me to order yours and attend a free class if you are in Raleigh or I will send you all the info needed to create your own cards!

Okay, getting back on track!  I embossed the Very Vanilla Thick cardstock using the Lovely Lace TIEF then attached that pretty gold vinyl sticker from the Eastern Palace Bundle.  Then I wrapped and tied my Very Vanilla 1/4 inch ribbon along with the pretty vanilla tassel from the Cupcakes and Carousels Embellishment Kit.  I used a little Tear & Tape under my ribbon to hold everything in place where I wanted it. I then stamped my greeting in Fresh Fig using the Rose Wonder Photopolymer stamp set onto one of the pretty vanilla and gold labels also found in the Carousels Embellishment Kit.  I just love this kit!  I then put everything together using Stampin' Dimensionals.  And I now have a card using some new products and some old favorites!  I can't wait to share it with one of the wonderful women in my life during the Mother's Day weekend!

That is all I have for this month, but you aren't done yet!  Go visit Sharon's page to see the fantastic project she has created to share with us this month!

Thank you again for joining us for our NC Demos Blog Hop.  Come see us again on Sunday, May 28 for another exciting edition!

Happy Stamping!

Paper Craft Crew Challenge 241 - A Pop of Pink & Special Reason Card

Good morning!  I hope your week is going well.  Thank you for stopping by to see my project for this week's Paper Craft Crew Challenge.  I was cleaning up from my Cute Cards Quick from this past weekend when I stopped for a moment to take a look at this week's sketch.  I was so glad I did!  The sketch was a perfect fit for some of the leftover supplies from Sunday!  Yay!  I love it when that happens!

So, let me start with the measurements for my card since the cardstock was pretty much ready to go when I started my card.:

  • Whisper White Thick Cardstock for cardbase - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4
  • Basic Black cardstock - 4 x 5 1/4
  • Pop of Pink - 1 piece 3 x 3 3/4, 1 piece 2 x 2, 1 piece 1 1/2 x 3
  • Scrap of Melon Mambo and Smoky Slate
I knew I wanted to use the Melon Mambo Thick Baker's Twine and decided that it would be fun to use it to add texture to my card.  So, I cut an 18 inch or so piece of it and then pulled it apart into thinner pieces.  I then added a little Fast Fuse the back of my Basic Black cardstock, attached one end and began wrapping it round, adding pieces and a little more Fast Fuse until I and used all three of my pieces of twine.

I then cut out my flower using the larger flower from a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock using the Stylish Stems Thinlits and a circle from the Layering Circles Framelits.  Next, I used the Fringe Scissors to add a little texture to my 1 1/2 x 3 inch piece of Pop of Pink DSP an attached it to my 3 x 3 3/4 piece before adding my 2 x 2 square and attaching it all to my Basic Black piece using Stampin' Dimesionals.  I also added my Melon Mambo flower with Dimesionals.  The final step for finishing up my card was to stamp my greeting with the Memento Pad onto a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock that I made into a banner using my Paper Snips and then attached to my card with a combination of Fast Fuse and a tiny piece of Stampin' Dimensional.

So, now I just need to decide who to send this cute card to let them know I think they are special!

That is all I have for this week, but you aren't done!  Pop over to the Paper Craft Crew page to see what the other members have created this week and get inspired to create your own card to upload and share with our group!

Thank you again for letting me share my card with you!  Please let me know if you have questions about this or any other project.  I would love to help you!

Happy Stamping!

Paper Craft Crew Challenge 240 - Butterflies & Floral Boutique

I just realized that life has been so hectic that I can't remember the last time I participated in the weekly Paper Craft Crew Challenge.  While I don't think things are going to settle down anytime soon I am going to try to do a better job of managing my time and sharing the projects with you.  This week's Challenge is a perfect time to start!

I started this card by getting out all the retiring Designer Series Paper I still have.  I was a little pleased to find I didn't have nearly as much as I thought, but with the end of the Stampin' Up! catalog year coming to an end on May 31st I know I want and need to use up what I have so I don't feel guilty buying from the new catty in June.  Now it wouldn't stop me from buying the new stuff.  LOL

So, I started by choosing to use the Floral Boutique DSP which has been one of my favorites this year.  I cut all my cardstock and DSP as follows:

  • Whisper White Thick cardbase: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4
  • Whisper White 4 x 5 1/4
  • Floral Boutique DSP cut one piece 3 x 4 and one 3 x 1 1/2
  • Scraps of Crushed Curry and Whisper White.
After cutting my cardstock and DSP, I ran the 4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White piece through the Big Shot using the Lovely Lace TIEF.  I am going to miss this embossing folder when it retires.  It has been a favorite for SO long!  After texturing my piece of Whisper White cardstock I mounted it to the cardbase and set it aside.

Next, I attached my Floral Boutique DSP together and wrapped the Night of Navy Baker's Twine around it. I set this aside while I punched out my Night of Navy piece using the Decorative Label Punch (also retiring) and attached both of these to my card using Fast Fuse.

Now it was time for my butterfly.  First, I stamped the floral stamp from Floral Phrases then cute it out with the little butterfly framelit.  It didn't look exactly right, so I die cut out the larger butterfly from a scrap of Crushed Curry cardstock.  It was perfect either and I finally decided that I liked how the two butterflies looked when layered together.  That helped me finish up my card pretty quickly.  I attached the larger butterfly with a Glue Dot then tied the Falling in Love Embellishment onto it with a little of the Night of Navy Baker's Twine.  I put a piece of a Stampin' Dimensional behind the flower to hold it in place.  Finally, I added my stamped butterfly with a little fast fuse and gave it just a little more bling with the Rhinestone Basic Jewels.  I finished off my card by adding a little piece of Floral Boutique Designer Washi Tape.

So, now it's your turn!  Go in and find some of the DSP and embellishments you have been hoarding and create your own card using this week's sketch.  Don't forget to share it with us on the Paper Craft Crew Page.  We want to see it!

Thank you letting me share my card with you this week.  If you have any questions or would like to order any of the products I used please let me know by posting below or emailing me your question.  I would be happy to help you.

Happy Stamping!
