NC Demos February Blog Hop - Celebrating Special Occasions!

Thank you for joining us for our February Blog Hop and to celebrate all those special Occasions in our lives.  I will be honest and tell you that I am a last minute card maker at times and it always seems it is for a baby shower or for a birthday, so I am LOVING the Happy Celebration stamp set and Celebration Duo TIEF.  It covers SO many different occasions and it is SOOOO quick and easy.  This great all occasions stamp set and folder can of course be found in the marvelous Occasions Catalog!

You can use the Celebration Duo TIEF with the Happy Celebration stamp set like I did for my sweet baby girl card above or if you have time and want to get creative the embossing folder is awesome for a little watercolor technique with the Watercolor Pencils like my Celebrate Your Day card below that would be great for a birthday.  I think this set has endless possibilities and for me with my current lack of time management skills and hectic schedule it is going to be a life savor!

Okay, so it is almost 8pm and this blog hop needs to go live in just minutes, so I am going to just say that if you have questions please post them below.  I promise I will answer them!  If you NEED this awesome stamp set and embossing folder like I did or any of the other supplies PLEASE email or call me!  I would love to help you make your life easier too!

I am off to celebrate the end of an excellent weekend with my dear hubby, but you still have more Occasions to celebrate starting with Sharon Maranich!  I know she has something amazing waiting for you, so enjoy!

See you March 26th when we will be celebrating all thing Spring!  Until then....

Happy Stamping!

Paper Craft Crew Challenge 232 - Hey Chick!

Why did the chicken cross the road?  To say "Hey, Chick!" Sorry.  I just couldn't resist!  I had so much fun making my card for this week's Paper Craft Crew Challenge.using the Hey Chick stamp set.  I also used it for one of my Terrific Techies Projects last night so they could practice using the new Watercolor Pencils. We all agreed that we love all the chicks!  And what makes this set even better is that I got it for FREE since it is a Sale-A-Bration stamp set!

I started my card by stamping my chicks with StazOn onto a piece of 2 1/4 x 3 3/4 inch piece of Shimmery White cardstock.  I did let it sit for just a minute to make sure it would not smear.  I think used the Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red Watercolor Pencils along with a Blender Pen to color my chicks.

I then created my "chicken wire" paper using a 4 x 5 1/4 inch piece of Crushed Curry cardstock, Early Espresso Ink and the Hexagons Dynamic TIEF.  This is such a cool and easy technique.  I just inked the top side of the embossing folder direct to paper style, placed my cardstock in the folder and ran it through the Big Shot with just the bottom piece of my platform and one cutting pad.  Then you just rinse off the embossing folder and let it air dry on a paper towel.  SO easy!

Next I punched a small hole in the top corner of my Shimmery White cardstock, ran my Crushed Curry Baker's Twine thorough it and tied a small piece of Burlap Ribbon into the Baker's Twine.

At this point I attached my Shimmery White piece onto a 2 3/4 x 4 1/4 inch piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock.  After looking at it for a bit I decided to use the "Hey Chick" greeting stamped with Early Espresso then punched out with the Classic Label Punch.  I stapled it onto my Shimmery White piece.

Now it was time to assemble my card.  I attached my Crushed Curry chicken wire piece to my Whisper White Thick cardbase (cut 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4) with Fast Fuse, then attached the Bermuda Bay piece with Stampin' Dimensionals.  And that was it!  Not a difficult card at all, just too a bit of time to do the water coloring.

So, now it's your turn!  Grab your favorite stamp set or one you have used yet and use this week's sketch to inspire you!  Then share it with us on the Paper Craft Crew page!  We want to see what you are making!

Thanks for popping by to see my card.  If you would like to get the Hey Chick stamp set for FREE contact me today to place your order of $50 before tax and shipping.  I would love to help you get stamping with this fun set!

Live, Laugh & Love with Beautiful You & Scenic Scenery

I know it is Wednesday I I should be posting a project for this week's Paper Craft Crew Challenge. Unfortunately I have been a bit under the weather and then was helping a friend create her custom wedding announcements on Tuesday evening, so never had the time to finalize my card for this week's challenge. So, for that I apologize.  I really do like this week's sketch and will share my creation with you when I get it finished.

In the meantime, I thought I would share a card I made last month that I think you will enjoy making.  I like that it uses both the Beautiful You stamp set from the Occasions Catalog and the Scenic Scenery DSP Stack from the Annual Catalog.  Oh, yes and there is Vellum as well.  I always love a project with Vellum!

My card is very basic except for our lady on the beach.  For this element I stamped on Vellum with StazOn then set it aside to for a few minutes to make sure it was completely dry and I wouldn't smear the ink.  After the ink was dry I used simply used the tip of a Bone Folder to dry emboss on the back side of the Vellum. For all the details on this technique check out my NC Demos Blog Hop from May 2016.

The nice thing about using Vellum on DSP or cardstock that has been stamped is that you can use SNAIL or a little Fast Fuse to attach it and you don't see the adhesive. So, after embossing my Vellum I attached it to the Scenic Scenery DSP.  After that I just put a touch of Fast Fuse on the back of the DSP then attached one end of my Linen Thread.  I then layered my DSP onto the Pool Party cardstock.  I think added this to the Whisper White Thick cardstock base.  I finished up my card by adding my Live, Laugh, Love phrase.

Thank you for letting me share my card with you.  If you have any questions or can't wait to order any of the supplies I used please contact me.  I am happy to help you!

I hope you take a little time to live, laugh and love today!

A Sealed With Love Valentine's Sampler

Like a lot of you I am finishing up my Valentine's cards and love notes.  I made this 12x12 sampler with some of my customers earlier this month and thought it might inspired some of your last minute Valentine's projects.

You might have seen some bits of my sampler in my post from January and earlier this month when I shared some of my little love notes.  I have been so inspired by the Sending Love Suite and I don't think you have to even do any thing fancy like techniques to create some darling projects using it.  All you need to do is some basic stamping combined with the framelits and adorable accessories.  If you have the Stitched Shapes and Sweet & Sassy Framelits it is even better!

Just in case you have the time to make this sampler here are the measurements for all the layers starting form the base and working up:
  • Real Red cardstock 12 x 12
  • Whisper White cardstock 11 x 11
  • Real Red cardstock 10 1/2 x 10 1/2
  • 9 Whisper White 3 x 3 squares
  • 9 Squares 2 7/8 of either DSP or Whisper White
As always you can find my complete supply list for this project at the bottom of this post, but if you have questions or need to order anything please let me know.  I would love to help you create your own sampler, little love notes or the fabulous project you are making!

Paper Craft Crew Challenge 230 - Sharing the Love at Valentine's

This week's Paper Craft Crew Challenge is all about love.  I know this time of year with Valentine's so near the first thing that come to mind is romantic love.  But there are SO many more kinds of love.  I want to share two of those with you as well as my Valentine's card this week.

First, I want to share a little about my love for my family and in particular my man-child, Bennett.  B made a brief appearance to help me and have dinner Monday night during my Manly Men Make Valentine's Cards event.  I love that he still shows up and stamps and just hangs out with me once in a while.  He is such a funny, bright and great kid.  Yes, sometimes he drives me crazy, I can't imagine my life with out him!

I also started thinking about how much I love being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and getting to share this love with others.  In case you didn't know this is a big part of Stampin' Up!  and it is all summed up in the Statement of the Heart:

To love what we do and share what we love, as we help others enjoy creativity
and worthwhile this we make a difference!

I loved getting to meet some new people I would never have met otherwise , share my love of stamping, help them have some social time out with the guys while making a card that I know their wives will love getting on Valentine's Day.   How many people get to do something they love, make a little money and meet new and interesting people!  What isn't there to love!?

Okay, I am done prattling on about love.  I thought I would share the card we made Monday night along with the step by step instructions.

  1. Stamp the lips on one of the Crumb Cake squares.
  2. Stamp hugs and kisses on the other Crumb Cake Square.
  3. Stamp the line of hearts and the Happy Valentine’s Day greeting on the Whisper White pieces of cardstock.
  4. Go to the Big Shot and cut out your greeting and the hearts.
  5. Attach the Chocolate Chip piece of cardstock to the Real Red piece of cardstock with the Tombo multi-purpose glue.
  6. Put Tear & Tape on each corner and across the bottom on the back of the Real Red cardstock. These should be about 1/2 inch.
  7. Attach the Real Red ribbon across the front of the Chocolate Chip card stock.  Attach this entire piece to your Crumb Cake card base.
  8. Use the SNAIL Adhesive to attach the two pieces of Sending Love Designer Series Paper onto the Chocolate Chip piece.
  9. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals (3 on each square) to attach the two Crumb Cake squares.
  10. Use the foam adhesive strips to attach your Happy Valentine's Day greeting and the little strip of hearts.  These need to be cut with the gray handled scissors.
  11. If you would like to add a little bling ask me about attaching sequins! =-)
If you have any questions please feel free to post them below or email me.  I would love to help you!  Have you ever thought about joining the Stampin' Up! family and share your love of creativity with others?  If so Sale-A-Bration is a great time to do this.  I would be happy to share more about this opportunity with you!

Now it is your turn to share your love of stamping!  Post your card or other love inspired project on the Paper Craft Crew page.  We want to see it and hear about what you love this week!

Thank you for letting me share my thoughts and card with you.

Happy Stamping!

Paper Craft Crew Challenge 229 - The Special Reason Bundle Birthday Card

Good morning!  I hope you are having a wonderful week.  This week's Paper Craft Crew Challenge just screamed to be used to create a very pretty birthday card with the Special Reason Bundle!  Not only did I get to use a brand new stamp set and framelits, but I did so while I enjoyed the company of my sweet little lady customer, Joan for the afternoon.

So, I want to start by saying that not all projects need to start totally from scratch.  There are lots of times that you can use things you have leftover from previous projects. All of the cardstock and DSP I used were pieces left over from previous Cute Cards Quick and the Christmas Card Buffet projects that I had set aside, but haven't used yet.  It was a win, win as I cleaned up one more thing in my studio AND got to make a pretty card!  Yay!  That is what I call a good creativity day!

Okay, enough of my babble.  Let me share a few details about this card.  The cardbase and front are standard.

  • Elegant Eggplant 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4
  • Wisteria Wonder 4 x 5 1/4
  • Pop of Pink DSP 4 x 4 (after  you cut the circle out of this save the scrap for layering on a future project!)
  • Smoky Slate and Whisper White scraps
The first thing I did was to spritz the Wisteria Wonder cardstock  water, then run it through the Big Shot using the Hexagons Dynamic TIEF (love this thing) and set it aside to dry while I work on other parts of the card.

While my Wisteria Wonder cardstock was drying, stamped my three flowers on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock with Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant using the Rock & Roll Technique.

Next I die cut the flowers using the Stylish Stems Framelits and my DSP circle using the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I also cut out some stems and leaves.  I used the stems, but set aside the leaves for a future project.  Okay, really they are still on my worktable, but I know I am going to use them, so they will go in a little baggie to use later! =-)

At this point I assembled by card except for the little banner.  At which point I realized I had a little spot on the bottom of my card that was glue!  Yikes!  Not good!  So, after a little thought and looking at the Valentines' Joan was making across the table I picked up the half piece of Paper Doily and viola, no more spot!

The final touch for this card was adding the Smoky Slate banner stamped with Elegant Eggplant with the little gold paper clip and gold bow.  I did put a little glue dot behind the bow to hold it in place.  And my Special Reason birthday card was complete!

If you have any questions about this card or any of the other projects you come across please contact me. I would love to help you order supplies or to help you complete your latest crafting project.

Now, I challenge you to find some cardstock or other supplies you have set aside and try creating your own card using this week's sketch and post it on the Paper Craft Crew page!

Until next week, happy stamping!
