NC Demos January Blog Hop - Let Sale-A-Brate!

Thank you for joining us for the NC Demos January Blog Hop.  There are SO many wonderful things in this year's Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration and Occasions Catalogs that I know you have already got LOTS of great ideas.

I thought I would share three of the projects I have made with my customers at events this month.  They all use products from the Sale-A-Bration (SAB) catalog.  The first card is a Thank You card using the So Very Much SAB stamp set and was inspired by one of the Shoebox Swap cards from our NC Demos Quarterly Meeting in January.  I created the background by wiping the Bermuda Bay Ombre pad back and forth over a piece of Whisper White cardstock  This was one of the great techniques we learned at our recent Quarterly Meeting.

My second card uses Avant Garden SAB stamp set.  I loved the sample in the SAB Catalog, and wanted to use it with one of my hostess clubs, but didn't have enough of the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack to make the exact same card, so I played with the dimensions and make it landscape instead of a portrait layout.  I must say I am pretty pleased with the results.  Just a couple of tips about creating this card.  I used the StazOn Pad to stamp the flowers and then gave them a little color using the new Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen.  The Happy Birthday Wishes is stamped with the Basic Black Archival Pad.  The hardest part was fussy cutting out the flowers which i attached with the Fine Tip Glue Pen.

My final card was inspired by the one my friend, Pam Staples, demoed at OnStage Atlanta in November.  I changed the primary color from Calypso Coral to Melon Mambo and added the Whisper White Thick Cardstock base.  I also used the Hexagons Dynamic TIEF (love it!) to add a little more texture.  I colored the Inside the Lines DSP (another great SAB product) with the Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pens.  If you use the Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pens with this paper be sure you don't over color with the Blender Pen as the DSP will peel.

If you have any questions about my cards please post them below or feel free to email me.  I would love to help you create any of these cards or your own version of them!

Thank you stopping by to Sale-A-Brate with me!  Sharon Maranich is the next stop on this month's hop and I know she has some more fabulous ideas for you.  So, go enjoy her post and I will hope to see you February 26th for our next NC Demos Blog Hop!

Happy Stamping!

Paper Craft Crew Challenge 228 - Valentine's Love Notes that are Sealed With Love

This week's Paper Craft Crew Challenge is ALL about Valentine's love notes for me!  These colors were just perfect for the darling little love notes I had planned for my stamp camp last night.

All the notes use the Sealed With Love Bundle which I think is the most versatile Valentine's set ever! Even after February 14h I can see me using it to make cute little note cards to drop in the mail to let a friend or loved one know I am thinking of them and just to say hello.

All of the love notes are cut at 3 x 6 inches and then scored at 3 inches.
The card front or bottom layer is 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 for the Love & Sealed With A Kiss cards.
The Sending Love DSP on the Happy Valentine's Day card is 2 7/8 x 2 7/8.

I think the Stitched Shapes Framelits as well as the Sweet & Sassy Framelits are great companions for the Sealed With Love Bundle and are perfect for these little note cards.

I will tell you that the best way to easily create these little love notes is to cut your cardbases and fronts as well as doing all your die cutting then sit down to down and stamp and finally assemble them.  They will go SO quickly!  I promise!

Thank you for letting me share my little Valentine's Love Notes with you! I hope they have inspired your Valentine's Day cards, love notes and other projects.  I will definitely be using these layouts as inspiration for the Valentine's Shadowbox Sampler class I am having next week!

If you love the the colors for this week's challenge as much as I do then take a minute to share  your project using them on the Paper Craft Crew page.  I want to see them!

Please let me know if you have questions or need help with any of your Valentine's projects.  I would love to help you!

Happy Stamping!

Paper Craft Crew Challenge 227 - Dragonfly Dreams & Floral Bouquet Make a Wonderful Card for a Special Day

I am just gong to jump right into this week's Paper Craft Crew Challenge.  I love this sketch!  I sat down at my work table Tuesdayand had a brief moment of panic..There were just too many ideas going through my head!  What stamp set shoudl I use?  What DSP should I use?  What Dies?  What accessories??  SOO many descisions!  I know you have been there!

So, I took a few deep breaths and after some thought I picked up the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle that I had unpacked from the SU order I got earlier in the day.  I knew I wanted to use something sparkly for the dragonfly and some of the DSP from the Annual Catalog with this set.  After some trial and error I came up with using the Floral Bouquet DSP along wiith the Silver Glimmer Paper. and some Vellum cardstock that is a favorite of mine at the moment.

While this isn't a beginner card, if you have a little experience It really isn't too daunting.  Start with the basic measurements:

  • Cardbase 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
  • Floral Bouquet DSP 4 x 5 1/4 and 3/4 x 4
  • Then you just need scraps of Night of Navy, Vellum and Silver Glimmer Paper.
The tips I would give you about this card are:
  • ALWAYS use the Multipurpose Glue with the Glimmer Paper whichis what I used to make sure my SilverI Glimmer Paper dragonfly stayed put on my Night of Navy stitched circle.
  • If you are going to stamp on Vellum emboss it! For this card I stamped the piece of Vellum carstock with the greeting from Dragonfly Dream with Night of Navy Classic Ink and then embossed with Clear Embossing Powder to set the ink.
  • If you are going to use staples with this card you should assemble it onto the 4 x 5 1/4 inch DSP piece and then attach that to the cardbase.
  • Use the Fine Tip Glue Pen to adhere sequines to any project.
  • Put your sequins on the Silicon Craft Sheet then pick them up and place them on your project using the Piercing Tool.  Touch the Piercing Tool into just a little dot of glue before using it.
.Thank you so much for letting me share my Dragonfly Dreams card with you for this week's Paper Craft Crew Challenge. I would LOVE to see what you are creating this week inspiired by this week's sketch.  Please share it wth us on the Paper Craft Crew Page!  I look forward to seeing your project or if you love me card (or any of the other projects featured this week) pleease let me know your questons or if you need to order supplies.  I would love to help you!  See you next week!

Happy Stamping!

RemARKably Creative January Blog Tour - Sending Love Suite

If you are just joining this month's tour I would like to say "Hello and Welcome!"  If you have stopped by any of the other blogs in this month's tour I am sure you are in love with the Sending Love Suite and all the excellent ideas and fabulous projects you have seen so far!

As for me I love Valentine's Day.  My two favorite colors are red and pink and I love any holiday when I can use them for crafting, decorating and wearing!

I spent this weekend at the NC Demos Quarterly meeting and one of the swaps I joined was the 3x3 swap, so I am sharing my little project with you this month since it is all about the Sealed With Love Bundle.  I think this little guy would be great at a 3x3 Love Note or as a part of a Valentine's Sampler.

I am not going to bore you with the details as I am running a bit behind and want to go have dinner with my honey.  Maybe I will give him this little love note to apologize for making him wait to eat. =-)  I will say that I did stamp all my pieces before die cutting, but I think I am going to try it in reverse next time.  Also, when you cut out the envelope from the Sending Love Glassine paper you want to cut 3 to 4 layers a time to get good score lines and so your framelit doesn't stick to your cutting pad.

Okay, I am off to dinner and you are off to see Anne's marvelous project this month!  Please do email me or comment below if you have questions or want to get this sweet bundle in time to make your own Valentine's projects.  I would love to help you!

See you next month!

Happy Stamping!

Paper Craft Crew Challenge 226 - Have an Amazing Birthday with Mixed Borders

Birthdays are a big deal.  Who doesn't like to be wished "Happy Birthday!" and even better who doesn't' love to get a card, especially a handmade one in the mail letting them know someone thinks they are special and that their big day has been remembered.  The start of the new year is a great time to get a head start on making birthday cards for friends and family and hopefully this week's Paper Craft Crew Challenge will inspire you now in this process.

My card this week uses one of my favorite stamping techniques, the Emboss Resist Technique, to create the 2 1/2 x 5 inch Flirty Flamingo and Tip Top Taupe cardstock  piece.  Here are the details:
Emboss Resist

  1. Stamp your image (I used two of the stamps from the Mixed Borders stamp set) with VersaMark on Whisper White or Very Vanilla cardstock and and heat emboss using Clear Embossing Powder. Allow image to cool.
  2. Apply ink directly to the paper (over and around the embossed image) using a sponge, dauber or brayer.  I used a sponge.
  3. Wipe the embossed image with a tissue to remove the excess ink.

After creating my Emboss Resist paper I cut my Flirty Flamingo cardbase 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored it at 4 1/4.  I then cut my Tip Top Taupe layer 4 x 5 1/4, stamped it with my stamps from Mixed Borders in Tip Top Taupe and then did direct to paper around the edges before attaching to the cardbase with Fast Fuse.  My Delicate White Doily went on next followed by my Emboss Resist piece both attached with Fast Fuse. Next a added a piece of Flirty Flamingo Ruched Ribbon.

At this point I was ready to add the greeting, "I hope your birthday is amazing."  Originally, I planned on using the Layering Circles Framelits, but after stamping my greeting in Tip Top Taupe on Whisper White cardstock and trying out a couple of different sizes of the circles I decided that the Layering Ovals Framelits were a better fit.  So, I cut out my greeting then sponged the edges with Tip Top Taupe and added it to the scalloped oval layer with Stampin' Dimensionals and then attach this final piece to my card using Fast Fuse.

I hope I have inspired you to create and hopefully share your own birthday card with us on the Paper Craft Crew page this week.  We would love to see how you are helping to bring birthdays back and show others you remember their special day!

Thanks for letting me share my card.  Please let me know if you have questions or would like to order any of the supplies I used this week.  I would love to help you get them along with FREE Sale-A-Bration items that are available unit March 31st!

Happy Stamping!

Sale-A-Brate & Say Thank You with the So Very Much Stamp Set

A card doesn't have to be fancy or extravagant to let someone know you appreciate them.  Sometimes a quick and simple card is just what you need.  I think this card is one of those kind of cards.  It was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest and just loved the simplicity of it.

I really did create this card in just minutes and so can you!  Here are the quick and easy steps:

  1. Cut a piece of  Bermuda Bay cardstock 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored it at 4 1/4 to create your cardbase.  Set it aside.
  2. Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock 4 x 5 1/4.
  3. Stamp the "Thank You" from the So Very Much stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog.
  4. Next, stamp one of the flowers from the Flower Shop stamp set along the bottom edge with Daffodil Delight Classic Ink.
  5. Sponge the edges of the Whisper White cardstock with Bermuda Bay Classic Ink.
  6. Put Stampin' Dimensionals on the back of the Whisper White cardstock and attach it to your Bermuda Bay cardbase.
And within minutes you have a simple and pretty card ready to brighten someone's day.

Thanks for taking the time to let me share this card with you.  Let me know if you would like to get the So Very Much stamp set for free with your Sale-A-Bration qualifying order of $50 before tax and shipping and start creating your own pretty, simple and quick thank you cards!

Paper Craft Crew Challenge 225 - Celebrate in Style with Beautiful You!

Happy New Year!  I am SO excited about all of the new stamp sets, tools and accessories that are coming out in the new Occasions Catalog today!  There are SO many fantastic things and they are even more amazing when you combine them with things from the Annual Catalog!  This week's Paper Craft Crew Challenge was a perfect way to use Beautiful You stamp set,  one of my favorite from the Occasions Catalog and  the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper and Washi Tape from the Annual Catalog!

This card really is quick and easy.  Just in case you need them here are the measurements:

Basic Black Cardbase 4 1/4 x 11, Scored at 5 1/2
Basic Black 2 1/2 x 4
Whisper White 2 1/4 x 3 3/4
Pop of Pink DSP 4 x 5 1/4

Silver Glimmer Paper 1/2 x 4

First I stamped the outline stamp of my lady in Basic Black Archival Ink on Whisper White cardstock then let it dry for about thirty seconds then i stamped the inside of the dress with Melon Mambo and colored in the hat with Melon Mambo ink and a Blender Pen.  I then attached the strip of Glimmer Paper with Multipurpose Glue and set it aside to dry.

While my glue was drying I used the dress stamp to add a little dimension to my Pop of Pink DSP on the right hand side.  I then attached this to my Basic Black cardbase.   I also used the dress stamp to stamp the edges of the piece of 4 x 5 1/4 inch piece of Whisper White cardstock I added to the inside of my card.

Next I added the Pop of Pink Washi Tape, and my "Celebrate" greeting along with Melon Mambo Twine to the Whisper White piece I had stamped earler with my stylish lady and then attached it to my  2 1/2 x 4 inch piece of Basic Black 2 1/2 x 4 inch piece of cardstock with Stampin' Dimesionals to finish off my sophisticated birthday card!

Thank you for letting me share my first card of 2017 with you!  I hope you will take a few minutes and share something you have made inspired by this week's sketch with us on the Paper Craft Crew page. We would love to see what you have created!

If you have any questions about this card or any other project please let me know.  I would love to help you!

Happy Stamping!
