Color Fusers Blog Hop: October 2017

Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop and Color Challenge for October! Here are the colors we had to work with:

Todays project features the Lovely Inside & Out Stamp Set and Lovely Words Thinlits. We are supposed to use all the colors in the challenge. I've included four out of the five colors on the front and you'll find the fifth color inside.

While you can't tell by looking at this first photo, you'll see in the following photos that this is a Fun Fold Card. It's quite easy to make too!

Before checking out the fun fold, here are a few details about the front of this card:

  • I used one of the Lovely Words Thinlits to cut the opening with the sentiment in the front of this card. I then used the same thinlit to cut out the "hugs" in Fresh Fig cardstock. I trimmed the Fresh Fig piece to leave just the word "hugs" and then attached it on top of the Whisper White "hugs" on the card front. The Fine Tip Glue Pen, with a half and half mix of the Fine Tip Glue and Multipurpose Liquid Glue was used to attach this piece.
  • A piece of 1/8" Fresh Fig Sheer Ribbon was threaded through the opening and a small bow was tied.
  • Three Rhinestone Jewels were added for a little bling.
Learning Opportunity
A half and half mix of the Fine Tip Glue and Multipurpose Liquid Glue offers the perfect balance of tackiness and viscosity, plus the benefit of the fine tip for applying the glue! I find the Fine Tip Glue to be too liquidy and not tacky enough and the Multipurpose Liquid glue to be super tacky but a bit too thick to control when using on fine detail projects.

Here's a close up for a better look at the detail.

Now on to the the fun fold aspect of this card... The front folds open to reveal a panel of the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper.

Then, you lift the piece with the DSP to reveal the inside of the card. While these colors do make me think of fall, this card is so bright and cheery it could just as well be used for spring or summer. Don't you think?

My card base measures 8-1/2" x 8-1/2". I scored this piece at 4-1/4" from two sides and then just cut out one of the panels.

Learning Opportunity
When cutting off the top left panel, cut so that you are also cutting away the score line. By doing this you are actually cutting off a piece that is slightly bigger than 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" and leaving the top right panel slightly smaller than 4-1/4" x 4-1/4". This is crucial for making sure the card folds up properly, lays flat and does not buckle. If the top right panel is too big, when folded down it will stick out too much to the left and prevent the left panel (front panel) from folding over properly, to fully close the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you've enjoyed my card and will check out all the other blogs on the hop today! The next stop is Robin Messenheimer.
