Occasions & Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop 2016!

Welcome to the Creative Inkers Occasions Catalogue & Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop! There are so many yummy new products in the new catalogue, and lots of FREE products to earn during Sale-A-Bration; check them all out here and get yours before the end of March. Now, on with the Hop!

The awesome new Rose Garden thinlit dies (page 18) were the first product that I fell in love with in the new catalogue. I have used them in my page below as an embellishment for my Love Blossoms layout - the colours are Rose Red, Blushing Bride, Garden Green and Pear Pizzazz (to match the paper). I also used the flower from the matching stamp set Rose Wonder to stamp a background on the white areas of the page (you can get both the dies and the stamp set as a bundle and save 15% off both!).

Rose Garden page

To get the multi-coloured roses I die-cut one in Blushing Bride and one in Rose Red, attached the rose shapes to my page and then filled in the "gaps" with the off-cuts from the other colour. It looks difficult (I did it in a class today and heard gasps of horror when I demonstrated it and informed the class that they would be doing it next!) but it is really just like doing a jigsaw puzzle. These roses only take around 5 minutes to assemble once cut, especially if you are using the Fine-Tip Glue Pen!

Rose Garden page

My second-favourite product from the new catalogue is the Bloomin' Heart thinlits die (page 16). This die is soooooo intricate that it works best using the Big Shot Precision Base Plate and the new Big Shot Die Brush (page 19). I cut out the heart on my page below using the new Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper (page 17) so I also made sure to run it back and forth through the Big Shot eight times so it had a chance to cut all the way through.

Bloomin' Heart page

I also used the matching stamp set Bloomin' Love (page 17) to stamp the flowers and banner for my page - both the dies and the stamps are available as a bundle saving 15%!

Bloomin' Heart page

I just love how this glimmer paper sparkles and adds extra dimension to my page!

Bloomin' Heart page

I hope you enjoyed my projects! Check out the awesome Jackie Noble's creations next in the Hop!

Now - onto my project! This was my swap for our annual Team Training Day yesterday:

Peace Window

As soon as I saw the Home for Christmas product suite I was sold! I love the Hearth & Home thinlit dies, which includes the wonderful window die! The scene behind it is actually stamped using two different stamp sets: Cozy Christmas and Happy Scenes, then I highlighted the snow using the White Chalk Marker. The very cute cat looking out the window is made using the new Black Glimmer Paper and Festive Fireside framelit dies (which co-ordinates with the Festive Fireplace stamp set, if you want to stamp and colour your cat!). I finished off the scene with the word "peace" which was cut out in Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper using the Christmas Greetings thinlit dies.

Peace Window

The Holiday Catalogue doesn't just focus on Christmas; there are also some cute products for Halloween and autumn, as well as stamp sets focussing on being grateful. My lovely downline Nadeen (who doesn't have her own blog) made her swap using all Halloween products (she is very much a "skulls and ghouls" girl!).

Boo Bag

She used the Sketched Dots Bags, and added a Spider Web Doily to each, then decorated with images from the If the Broom Fits and Sweet Hauntings stamp sets. Each bag was finished off with the "BOO!" from the Boo to You framelit dies.

I hope you enjoyed these projects! I'd love to hear what you think of them - please feel free to leave a comment at the end of this post!

Now - onto my project!

From the moment I first saw this cake at Convention in the Gold Coast I loved it, and knew that it would be my first purchase when the catalogue went live on 2nd June!

Sweet Stack Project Kit

This cake comes as a kit called Sweet Stack Project Kit, and it includes everything needed to make the stunning cake that you see above! The only thing I have added is stamps and ink (of course!) - there is a matching stamp set (also called Sweet Stack) that fits it perfectly - and the Watermelon Wonder Lace Trim.

Cake close up

My favourite part of the cake is the glimmer paper candles and the banner that you can personalize to say whatever you like! I have had it on display at the Cake & Craft Fair in Whangarei over the past weekend and it has received plenty of ooohs and aaaahs from passersby.

But what if you give away all your cake pieces?? No problem, Stampin' Up! has also bought out the Cutie Pie die for the Big Shot - it makes cakes the same as the larger cakes in the Sweet Stack Project Kit! Pictured below is a piece of cake I made for my Annual Catalogue launch:

Cutie Pie Cake die

It was so quick and easy to make, including the cute little bows which are also part of the die set!

I hope you enjoyed my beautiful cake! I'd love to hear what you think of it - please feel free to leave a comment at the end of this post!

Fave Farewell Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Faves Farewell Blog Hop, bought to you by some of the Creative Inkers team! This hop is showcasing products that are retiring from the current catalogue, and are only available until the 2nd of June (or while stocks last if sold out before then!).

I decided to showcase the following products that are retiring: the Apothecary Art stamp set, matching Label Collection framelits and Fancy Fan embossing folder!

I used all of these great retiring products to make the following card. I love how the Label framelits can be used for either mats or to create negative spaces for the stamped images to fit into! I used Rich Razzleberry cardstock as well as the gorgeous Brushed Gold (sadly on the retiring list but sold out already) on this card to create a luxurious look.

Gold Card - front

And here's a side on view, so you get a better view of the flower (made with the Pansy punch, which I'm happy to say is returning in the new catalogue!).

Gold Card - side

My gold card was inspired by this card in the Stampin' Up! Online Store - I kept to the original design, just changing the colours and the flower.

Sample case

And here's another sample by Stampin' Up! - the labels are used here as a tag!

Label sample

And finally a last sample: this is a birthday card I made a year or so ago for my dear friend Karen. It's still one of my faves!

Birthday Card

I hope you've enjoyed my trip back through memory lane! If you like any of the retiring products don't delay - get them before they're gone at the end of the month!

The Apothecary Art stamp set is still available - save 15% off now and get your (clear-mount) set for only  $46.36 while it's still available!

Apothecary Art Stamp Set

The matching Label Collection framelits are now available at a crazy 50% off for only $27.98! These are great value so don't miss out!

The gorgeous Fancy Fan embossing folder is also now half-price - get yours for only $8.48!

Now - onto my project!

I'm not usually into projects with hearts all over, but i wanted to showcase the gorgeous papers that are in the Stacked With Love DSP collection. These papers are sized 6 1/2" x 4 1/2" so are perfect for both card-making and scrapbooking, and the thing I like most is that on one side they are coloured and on the other they are black-and-white!

Valentine's Day Page
These papers were perfect for this page with a recent picture of my sister-in-law Leeanne and my gorgeous niece Moana! I used the Sweetheart punch and the small heart from the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack to make some easy embellishments, adding some rhinestones for a bit of bling and punching out a border in the black (as my photo wasn't the right size for the mat) using the Hearts Border punch. This page is really clean and simple - not my usual style at all!

Valentine's Day Page - close up

I hope you enjoyed my Valentine's page. I'd love to hear what you think of it - please feel free to leave a comment at the end of this post!

Creative Inkers Occasions Catalogue Blog Hop!

Occasions Catalogue Blog Hop

Welcome to the Creative Inkers Occasions Catalogue Blog Hop!
I have fallen in love with the beautiful Butterfly Basics stamp set and thinlit dies that are available in the Occasions Catalogue! I love a stamp set with both useful words and images, and this set ticks those boxes perfectly!

Butterfly Basics

I saw a beautiful card made by one of the Stampin' Up! staff members, and thought it would be perfect on a page, and this is the finished result:
Our Country Page
Here is a close up of the butterfly embellishment - I love layering and texture so this was perfect!
Butterfly Basics
I also tried a different technique - putting die-cut letters on top of my photos (photo overlays are very much on-trend at the moment!). I used the Little Letters framelits to cut my letters out of Whisper White card.
Little Letters Framelits
I hope you enjoyed loking at my page! I taught this page to  a group of 14 lovely ladies today at my regular monthly scrapbooking class - and only managed to get one photo! They all did so well and their pages looked amazing! Here is Karen working on her lovely page:

Happy Halloween!

I'm not really a "Halloween" type of person but I couldn't resist getting the Frightful Wreath Simply Created Kit! It contains everything you need to make this gorgeous wreath, including all the beads and wires to make the jewelled spider :-)

Halloween Wreath
Spider on the wreath

I also got some Halloween #PLxSU (Project Life cards exclusive to Stampin' Up!) in the Seasonal Snapshot set. As I don't have any Halloween pictures to scrap I decided to use up these cards by making a Halloween sampler. This was sooooo much fun to do! I used both cards and accessories (from the Seasonal Snapshot Accessory Pack) to create each panel. I love how the cards are more cute than scary!!

I also used my What's Your Type? stamp set to create the "BOO" in Black, Tangerine Tango and Crushed Curry (to match the colours in the cards) as well as my new Alphabet Rotary stamp to write "Skeletons, Ghosts & Ghouls" :-)

I hope you enjoyed seeing my Halloween creations! They are currently on display at my friend Pam's shop Dorothy's Florist in the Regent (opposite Whangarei Primary for those of you who live up north). Stop by and say hi to Pam if you're passing, or check out her gorgeous shop online at www.dorothysflorist.co.nz. Leave your name and email address with her when you call in to visit and you may receive a little surprise from me :-)

Creative Inkers Christmas Blog Hop!

Creative Inkers Christmas Blog Hop

Welcome to the Creative Inkers Christmas Blog Hop! I love non-traditional colours at Christmas time, and the All is Calm Specialty DSP is just my thing! The main colours in these papers are Lost Lagoon, Soft Sky, Pear Pizzazz and Smoky Slate.

All is Calm DSP

I used a little bit of it (my favourite from the pack!) to create the following card. I love how the colours have a cooling effect on the card - perfect for the polar bear image in the Bearing Gifts stamp!
Bearing Gifts Card
A few stars punched from the new Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper (a great way to use glitter without getting messy!) and some colouring with the Blendabilities pens finished this card off. If you're wondering how I lightened the Smoky Slate Blendy, I did this using the Colour Lifter - the Smoky Slate on my bear's body was a bit too smoky hehe!!

Thanks for stopping by! Your next stop is the lovely Kathryn Tyrrell (or if you are hopping backwards you will be visiting the awesome Heather Stewart!).
