Punch Bunch Happy Birthday

Over at  Pals Paper Arts this week, they have set a challenge to make a clean and simple card using scallops and this is what I came up with.  For the colour combo I went to Color Q and found the combination of Pear Pizzazz, Brilliant Blue, Brocade Blue, Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White.  Because I no longer have any Brilliant Blue or Brocade Blue (since they were retired) I substituted with Pacific Point and Marina Mist.  I used the birthday stamp from the SAB set Punch Bunch and did some faux stitching on the Pear Pizzazz strip with the Mat Pack and White Gel Pen.  It still looked a little dull so I embossed the background with the Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  I like it, I think it will be nice for a young man who doesn't have an aversion to purple which is not my husband :)

Punch Bunch Flower

I just got the new set from the SAB catalogue called Punch Bunch.  It's such a cute set and I couldn't wait to use it so I made a card today.  I have used the current sketch from Mojo Monday for the layout of the card.  I'm also linking it up to the SUO website whose challenge this week is to use your SAB sets. I had a look at the SAB catalogue for some colour inspiration and decided to use Peach Parfait, So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz and Melon Mambo BUT I picked up the Rose Red marker by mistake instead of the Melon Mambo so the colour combo changed, but I actually think I like it better than if I had used Melon Mambo.  I have used my Stampin Write Markers to colour the flowers on the stamp and omit the sentiment because I wanted to add a greeting elsewhere.  I just love how the markers allow you to do that so easily.  I wanted a sentiment that was a bit longer and on a single line so I chose the Short and Sweet set.  The perfect accent to the greeting was the mini library clip with the Linen Thread bow (took a close up for you) . I think the Crumb Cake cardstock, Linen Thread and patterned paper has given the card  a "country" style which isn't something I usually do but I like it.  I'd love to know what you think too.

Playing Hookey 12 x 12

Whilst I had my Island Oasis DSP out on the desk, I decided to do a scrapbook page.  This paper just screams "holiday" to me so I had to go back to 2009 (the last time we had a holiday) for some photos.  I found a set of 3 photos of Charlie playing hookey and the colours seemed to match the paper pretty darn well, so I had that part sorted.  For my sketch inspiration, I went to the Sketchabilities website, because, they post both card and scrapbook sketches every fortnight.  The current sketch didn't suit this page, but you can go back and check their old sketches which is what I did and I found one with 3 photos which I liked, so that was that.  This page only took about 1 hour to do from the time I decided I was doing a page until I had stuck the last flower on, now that it pretty quick so I'm definately going to be using those sketches more often.

Island Floral Card

Here's the very *bright* card I made yesterday using the Island Floral Die and the Island Oasis DSP.  Only one tiny little stamp on this card so it was super fast to make.  I used the latest Sweet Sunday Sketch as my inpsiration for this layout.  Although I've used the Island Oasis DSP a fair bit,  I had not yet cut into this very floral piece,  depsite the fact that it is my favourite one in the pack, but I thought this sketch was perfect for it.  I'm not crazy about this card but I like it, hope you do too.

My daughter came home from school the other day and asked me to make some little notebooks to place in the class rewards box at school.  Of course I was delighted to oblige, any excuse to create and I do so love stationary. Hopefully the kids will snap them all up and I'll get to make some more 'cause it was fun!  I just hope they like them, they are 7 and 8 year olds so I'm thinking the boys will still be into notebooks and won't consider them "uncool" .... yet :)
