How to Dress Up a Block of Chocolate

I wanted to give this block of chocolate as a gift, but I could not possibly just hand it over looking so ordinary, so I decided  to dress it up with some pretty ribbon and a tag.  I pulled out the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set, matching Bitty Buttons and Itty Bitty Shapes Punches to come up with this in a jiffy.  For my colour combo I just walked over to my ink pads and grabbed the first five inks I saw from the Brights Collection.  I punched each shape out and for a bit of interest, raised a couple up using Dimensionals.  The greeting is from Apple Blossoms (hostess level 2).

Stamps:  Itty Bitty Bits, Apple Blossoms
Paper:  Whisper White
Ink:  Tempting Turquoise, Regal Rose, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories:  Bitty Button, Itty Bitty Shapes Punches, Regal Rose Grosgrain (retired)

Thanks for taking a look, have a great day.

Vintage Fancy Flower

Hi there, just dropping in to show you what I did last night.  This card is combo of a sketch and colour challenge. The sketch comes from Card Patterns and the colours come from Stamping 411.  The colours are Peach Parfait, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Baja Breeze.  They threw me at first, and I wasn't too sure if I could do it, but I'm glad I did because I actually really like them together.  I have gone for a very vintage look by distressing around the edges of the cardstock with the Distressing Tool from the Cutter Kit.  To make the flower, I punched out 2 shapes using the Fancy Flower Punch (which is back on the market BTW) crumpled them up, teased the layers apart a little before attaching them to the card with a Glue Dot.  I did think the card looked ok but still needed something so I stamped the Baja Breeze and Crumb Cake with the French Filigree background stamp and ran the Very Vanilla panel through the Big Shot using the Finial Press Embossing Folder.

Stamps:  French Filigree, Pocket Silhouettes
Paper:  Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze, Peach Parfait, Very Vanilla
Ink:  Versamark, Early Espresso
Accessories:  Big Shot, Finial Press Embossing Folder, Cutter Kit, Fancy Flower Punch, Neutrals Button, Linen Thread, Peach Parfait Poly Twill Ribbon, Scallop Edge Border Punch

Thanks for taking a look, I'd love to know what you think.

Sisters 12x 12

Dreams do come true and I have a photo to prove it: my girls hugging and looking like they really like each other!  If I  wasn't the one taking the photo I wouldn't believe it, I would think it was photoshopped. This photo was taken about a year ago and is a favourite so I had to pay tribute by giving it it's very own page.  I looked at their outfits - pink and purple -  and decided on the Lap of Luxury DSP which has a colour scheme of Concord Crush, Very Vanilla, Basic Grey and Pretty in Pink.  I do really love this paper, it kind of looks like fabric.  I went with Pink Pirouette instead of Pretty in Pink because it matched Lila's shirt better.  I used nearly a whole sheet of paper for the background (told you I wasn't hoarding anymore) and then some strips of DSP and Concord Crush across the page under the photo.  I wanted some happy flowers so I went to my Island Floral Die and my Boho Blossoms and Fancy Flower Punches and layered them all together with buttons and brads.  I thought the flowers looked just a little plain so I decided to stamp them in versamark with the large stamp from the Style Beautiful set, just to add a bit of interest - it made all the difference.  You can see the what I mean in the 2 close up photos below the main one.

Stamps:  Style Beautiful
Paper:  Pink Pirouette, Basic Grey, Concord Crush, Lap of Luxury DSP
Ink:  Versamark, Marker - Concord Crush
Accessories:  Big Shot, Island Floral Die, Simple Letters Alphabet Die, Fancy Flower Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Scallop Edge Punch, Subtles Button, Neutrals Button, Regals Button, Regals Brad, Neutrals Brad
Non SU:  Cream Crochet Cotton

Thanks for dropping in and looking, have a great day.

A Parting Gift

A very good friend of mine has just headed off to the United Arab Emirates where she will be co-ordinating services for the soldiers.  She will be gone for 6-8 months and I'm really going to miss her.  I will be sending her cards while she's away but I wanted to give her a parting gift so I made this journal and matching card for her, so she 'll have somewhere nice to record her thoughts and feelings plus when she uses it, she can think of me :)

This is it all packaged up in a box I made to protect it.

And this is what is inside.  It's an On Board Journal which I have covered using the Love Letter DSP.

This is the the little sentiment I put on the front, because it's a very brave thing she is doing.

Her name is Maryvonne, so I took a chipboard letter M, coloured it with Basic Black Ink using a Sponge Dauber and then coated it in Crystal Effects to make nice and glossy.

This is how it looks when it's inside it's box.

I lined the box with the DSP as well.

And I put this sentiment inside the lid with some embellishments.

This is the card I made with the matching papers.

I chose "Live with Passion" as the sentimenrt to remind her to make the most of her experience.

Stamps:  Fifth Avenue Floral, Inspred by Nature, Life Definitions (retired)

A Little Handbag

This is my entry for this weeks JAI # 52 sketch challenge.  The first thing I thought when I looked at the sketch was that it looked like a handbag, so that's exactly what I made.  It has turned out really cute and I think one of my girls will like to give it to a friend for their birthday.  I have used my favourite piece of paper from the Sweet and Sour pack - not much of that one left now :(  Oh well, I can always buy another pack, I have vowed to no longer hoard my paper and accessories!

This is the sketch which I squeezed a little and turned into a square because my card looked better that shape.

And this is my card, which measures 10.5cm square.

Stamps:  Crazy for Cupcakes
Paper:  Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie, Very Vanilla, Sweet and Sour DSP
Ink:  Pumpkin Pie
Accessories:  Big Shot, Top Note Die, Subtles Button, Scallop Oval Punch, 1 3/4" Oval Large Punch, 1/4" Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain, Cropodile, Corner Rounder Punch
