Just for You - Try Stampin' on Tuesday # 213

UPDATED ON APRIL 21ST, 2015:

One of my latest resolution is to try to use the leftovers from a project as soon as possible to avoid putting them away and.... forgetting about them! Which is one of the reason why pretty much all my cards this week have butterflies, Painted Blooms and the same family of colors.

Today I have a tall and skinny card (3" wide x 5 1/2" tall) inspired by the sketch I found at Try Stampin' On Tuesday for their challenge # 213.

Here is my card:

and the sketch:

The sketch was courtesy of Lynda. Simple but fun one.

Being a different size card, it also means it will need its own envelope! I made a quick one with the Envelope Punch Board:

For the card base I used a piece of Melon Mambo from another project I did this week. You can see that card here. From the same project I had also a small rectangle of Blackberry Bliss which you can find under the Irresistibly Yours DSP from SAB (sure hope that DSP will make it to the new catalogue!!!).

I achieved this result by first stamping with the Hardwood background stamp with Memento Black right over the leafy sheet of DSP. Very important to let it dry for a bit and then blot with a tissue. Then you can either use a brayer or a sponge to apply ink on top of the stamped image. (I had first seen and read about this technique on Carolyn Lindenmayer's blog). I used a sponge and two colors: Smoky Slate and Crumb Cake. Once you are happy with how your wood looks like, you remove the excess ink from the leaves (again I used a clean sponge to do that).  To decorate this small "fence" I had a leftover Perfect Plum butterfly from the same project and I punched another butterfly from a small piece of Painted Blooms DSP, also left on my table from yet another project. (So far so good about using my scraps....).

The bottom panel is from another sheet of Irresistibly Yours, sponged with Melon Mambo. I affixed a small piece of Painted Blooms and topped it with "vintage" Gumball Green satin stitched ribbon. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and was punched with the Word Window (shortened). Added a few rhinestones and I also traced the Perfect Plum butterfly with a clear Gelly Roll pen.

So this is my card for the challenge # 213 at Try Stampin' On Tuesday. Be sure to go visit their blog where you will see not only fabulous cards and inspiration, but the photography is more than worth the visit! Let me know what you think.

I hope you like this different size card and accompanying envelope. I now wish I had done something different with the bottom panel but.....  be sure to leave a comment; I always love reading and answering them.  And today being Tuesday, try it, stamping on Tuesday. It's fun! (any day of the week quite frankly!)
