Just for You - Tag - for JAI # 256 and PP # 238

My card today is a very literal interpretation of the sketch provided by Tina at Just Add Ink for the sketch challenge # 256.

Here it is:

and the lovely sketch:

As you can see, I really did not deviate from the sketch! My card base is Mossy Meadow; I then layered a piece of Blackberry Bliss with a smaller piece of Painted Blooms DSP. For the tag I used another piece of that gorgeous DSP, centered on a Blackeberry Bliss tag. A few butterflies and the doily complete the card. The sentiment was simply stamped and punched with the small oval and attached to a Polka Dots stamped from the set "A Fitting Occasion and punched with the Modern Label.

I hope you like my simple card today. I enjoyed playing with the sketch at Just Add Ink and you should go visit their blog and see the great cards from the Design Team and fellow stampers.

I also decided to enter my card in The Paper Players's Tic-Tac-Toe challenge since I already had the elements needed. I am using the bottom line: Flowers, Any shade of pink and Polka Dots. Here's the banner for their challenge PP#238:

Their blog is full of inspiration and you should definitely go have a look too.

Have a great week!

Cupcake Kind of Day

Today's card combines 3 challenges! First the awesome colors of the Fab Friday # 57, where they are welcoming a new design team member, Heather Herold. Welcome Heather! Then I found this new challenge over at Try Stampin' On Tuesday! Well today is Tuesday so I am trying their sketch challenge # 205. And then I saw that the challenge this week at Can you Case It?  was to make a 2-layer card plus the card base and include at least one embellishment (all that in less than 10 minutes?)

So here is my card. Once I had decided on all the elements, it was very quick (less than 10 minutes!) to put together. Colors and DSP were easy, it's just making the final decision on the stamp and punch that took a little bit longer (as usual):

And here are the banners for Fab Friday Color Challenge and the Quick and Clean Challenge at CYCI with the sketch at Try Stampin' On Tuesday:

I started with a Real Red card base and glued a piece of the stripes from the Stacked with Love stack that already had the 3 colors for the Fab Friday challenge! That was easy! On a small piece of Whisper White I stamped the bottom of the cupcake along with 3 candles on each side, with Crisp Cantaloupe and Calypso Coral. I punched the frosting for the cake out of another piece from the DSP stack, and the sentiment is directly stamped with Real Red. For the embellishements I used a piece of Real Red cotton Ribbon and 3 medium pearls again on each side of the cupcake. Voilà! The cupcake is the big heart from the sketch and the candles and pearls, the small ones.

LOVE - Hand Stamped Sentiments #203

At Hand Stamped Sentiments this week it was a color challenge. I used those colors to create my card: Basic Black, Whisper White and Melon Mambo.

I wanted  to enter this very quick and fast card (less than 10 minutes!) in the CYCI challenge this week but I was at a Stampin'Up Utreat and my little iPad mini would not let me attach any photo (need to read the instructions again I guess!!). It has only the card base and the second layer is the strips of paper at the top, bottom and left side from the "Stacked with Love" DSP stack.

Here's my card:

and the banner for the color challenge.

Be sure to go visit their blog for the wonderful inspiration from the Design Team and that the great entries posted for the challenge. LOVE those colors together. Don't forget to let me know what YOU think by leaving a quick comment.

Have a great week and I hope you are not in one of the places that will see lots and lots of snow and blizzard conditions.

Butterfly - Just for you (CYCI 51)

Edited on Saturday January 10th, 2015:  WooHoo!

Today I decided it was more than time to try some of my new "toys" and participate in some challenges.

For the first one I was greatly inspired by a card made by Carolyn Lindenmayer for this sketch challenge. Carolyn is a new Design Team Member at CanYouCaseIt?

Here is the sketch from Eva Bussom

And here's my card, as you can see if you visited her blog and the CYCI one, totally inspired by the one Carolyn made!

Here are a couple of close-ups to show how intricate those butterflies are and how beautiful. For this card I used the same colors, but you can imagine how gorgeous they will be when using different cardstock or specialty papers.

You should definitely go pay a visit to the CYCI blog and if you want to see beautiful butterflies, a tour of Carolyn's blog is a must. She is the "butterfly lady" par excellence!

Friendship? (yes, please) - PCCCS#117 (2) and Fab Friday 54

Edited: WooHoo not only my card below has been voted in the Top 3, but so did my other entry!!! WOW. Thank you so much if you voted for me. It really means a lot. You can see the other card right here

This is my second entry based on the sketch of PCCCS-117  and I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could use the color combo of the challenge at Fab Friday.

For this card (my second entry to their challenge), I have used the sketch from PCCCS-117 again but I flipped it on its side, and the challenge at Fab Friday this week was calling for a very unusual combo of colors and I was curious to see if I could make it work.

Here are the sketch and the color banner:

For my card base I used Blackberry Bliss, matted with a smaller piece of Naturals Ivory cardstock. For the focal point this time, I stamped one of the sentiment from the From my Heart stamp set in Blackberry Bliss on a piece of Naturals Ivory and then die cut it with one of the Deco Labels die. I introduced the Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry by cutting 2 pieces of DSP and adhering the piece of Crushed Curry carefully over the Cajun Craze polka dots and forming a frame of dots around the horizontal lines.

The beautiful satin ribbon in Blackberry Bliss is topped with a punched paper bow (punch from Martha Steward in my stash); I then colored four rhinestones with the Blackberry Bliss marker, one in the middle of the bow and the 3 others on the side of the BB piece of CS next to the ribbon.

So what do you think of  today's card? Please do pop by the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch and the Fab Friday blogs and you will be sure to see some great cards as always.

Away we go - PCCCS # 96

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch # 96

Good Sunday

Hope your weekend was a wonderful one.The weather was great yesterday but today it is kind of gray and very humid. I am afraid rain is on the way!

So a perfect day to play with the card sketch challenge over at Paper Craft Crew, and using some of the new Designer Series papers. I was the lucky winner of a pack of this wonderful DSP called Flashback, at our monthly demo meeting. Oh WOW, cameras! I could not wait to use it on a card. So here it is:

And here is the fun sketch that inspired this design.

Stampin'Up Products
Cardstocks: Basic Black – Real Red
DSP: Flashback (133699)
Specialty: Naturals Ivory
Marker: Basic Black
Ink: Black Stazon
Stamp Set: Around the World (131083)
Punch: Angled Tag Topper (133323)
Embellishments: Essential Wooden Elements (132258) - Eclectic Paper Pierce Pack (133778)
Non Stampin’Up!: Filmstrip

So let me know what you think. The paper really makes the card. Not much else was needed. I stamped the Away we go sentiment from the Around the World stamp set on a wooden word bubble and cut some little ballons from a 'vintage' DSP, a little bit of paper piercing on the small strip of tag, and voilà!

Thank you so much for your visit and leave me a comment; it always makes my day!

FMS 121 - Read my Lips

First of all I would like to thank Karren Johnson for making me a Perfect Princess for challenge # 120! You can see my entry right here This was such a great honor. Thank you again Karren and  Freshly Made Sketches.

Freshly Made Sketches #121 - A Sketch by Linda

So now for this week, we have a fun sketch by Linda, "high school geometry" - inspired. Love those shapes!

I made this card while working on another challenge (SUO # 89). I have another card "in the works" on my scrap table for this challenge but just in case I don't get to finish it before the deadline, I thought I should post this one today and maybe I'll have another one later!

The base is Crumb Cake and I used a technique called "Painter's Tape" to apply the Coastal Cabana (circle) and Crumb Cake (square) to the masked shapes. Gorgeous Grunge with both inks was used all over the front of the card. And the fun little 'floating' label was stamped with Real Red and the words highlighted with the Stampin' Chalk Marker. The sentiment on the square was stamped with Coastal Cabana and Real Red. Forgot to take a picture of the inside but it says: love you. I will try to edit and post the picture later.
