Monday Montage-Halloween Pumpkin Card

Today is our first day of the Design Team Finalists Monday Montage Blog Hop! We are very excited to share projects with you that we hope will inspire you in some way. Check back with us every other Monday to see what we have been up to!

I know Halloween is still a couple of months away, but I have been in the mood for some Halloween projects. To get that ball rolling, I decided to share a Halloween card with you. I also wanted to incorporate the Six-Sided Sampler and Hexagon Punch in my project. So, I used them to make a few smiley Jack-o-laterns.

Have a look!

This is a happy Halloween card! I'm a much bigger fan of cute and happy Halloween cards and decor, not the creepy Halloween stuff.

Here are a few tips for making this card:
The background for this card came from the Build-a-Banner kit. I used the Chevron Template included in that kit, and sponged some Pumpkin Pie ink over it with a sponge dauber.  I used the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set to get the splatters.

I stamped the two Pumpkins on the ends with Pumpkin Pie ink, and I used Tangerine Tango for the one in the middle.  A punched out circle cut in half was perfect for the mouth, then I just cut little teeth out. The triangle eyes are cut free hand.

First I tried cutting the pumpkin leaves free hand like I had for the triangle eyes, but the leaves didn't turn out right. Then I remembered the Christmas Light Punch from the Merry Minis Punch Pack. It looks just like a leaf! I cut a few notches in each "leaf", sponged them with Crumb Cake ink and crumbled them a bit. I also took some skinny strips of Old Olive card stock and made some little tendrils for the pumpkins.

For texture and interest I added some Natural Trim and some Whisper White Baker's Twine Fringe-Yes it is Whisper White Baker's Twine that I dyed Basic Black-so fun! I also colored the Basic Jewel Rhinestones with a black permanent marker (got that tip from Julie Davidse-thanks Julie!).

Stamps: Six-Sided Sampler, Halloween Hello
Paper: Basic Black, Naturals Ivory, Tangerine Tango, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip (stems)
Ink: Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango, Crumb Cake
Accessories: Build-a-Banner kit (Chevron Template), Natural Trim, Whisper White Baker's Twine (dyed Basic Black), Basic Jewels Rhinestones (colored black with permanent marker), Curly Label Punch, Circles Framelits

I love how you used the banner kit for the background on this card, and the way you turn the hexagons into pumpkins. Amazing!
