My First Digital Scrapbook Page - PMDC 040

This is my very first digital scrapbook page!  What do you think?  I followed the Pixel Maven's Sketch Challenge which you can see below.  The photo is my husband, Dave, and me while we were on vacation this January.

If you follow my blog, you may already know that I have been an ink and stamps kind of girl.  This year I have challenged myself to delve into the digital world.
I've been having a lot of fun adding this to my crafting repertoire.

Pixel Maven's DigiChallenge (PMDC-040) Sketch challenge runs 2/28/14 - 3/10/14. Play along with us at @NMWatt #pixelmaven #mydigitalstudio

My Digital Studio (MDS for short) is the digital program from Stampin' Up!  It's a bargain at only $19.95. Would you be surprised to hear that there is a FREE 30 day trial?  Check it out here.  MDS is intuitive but you can find instructional videos at

Every week SU releases new digital downloads - you can find a library of downloads available to you in my on-line store.  And with digital downloads, you have access to them as soon as they are purchased, so there is no delay in starting your project!

Happy Stamping (or digital crafting wink)!

DigiChallenge with MDS

This card was designed using My Digital Studio for the Pixel Maven Sketch Challenge.  As you can probably guess, I emailed it to my customers who recently placed an on-line order.  smiley

The sketch layout that I used is pictured below.  You can participate in the challenge using a project made with paper/ink/stamps also - it doesn't have to be a digitally designed project.

Pixel Maven's DigiChallenge (PMDC-038). Runs 1/31/14 - 2/10/14. Play along at @NMWatt #pixelmaven #stampinup
If you look closely at my card, you can see that I placed Basic Rhinestone Jewels on the eyes of the little birds.  To make a hybrid card, I would add the real 3D jewels to add interest and dimension.

On this card I learned how to recolor the sentiment using a "brush" to color sections of the words different colors.  It is kind of like coloring on a stamp with markers and then stamping.  I also used the "mirror image" function to flip one of the birds over so that the two bird images I added are facing each other.  How cool is that?

The more I use MDS, the easier it gets.  And if I use it on a regular basis, I won't forget what I learned previously and can continue to build on my digital skills.  Is that how you are too?

If you aren't a digital designer, but know someone who is, please tell them about My Digital Studio from Stampin' Up!  It's only $19.95 and you can try before you buy when you select the FREE trial MDS version!  Every Tuesday, SU releases new digital downloads. And once you own it, nothing retires - you have it forever!  Isn't that awesome?

Come shop with me here - anytime day or night.  My on-line store is always open!  And now, during Sale-a-bration you can choose a FREE product from the Sale-a-bration brochure for every $50 you spend on SU products.

Happy Stamping!  (either digitally or with paper/ink)

PPA 189 goes Digital!

I've challenged myself to start working with MDS (My Digital Studio) more. There are so many training videos on to help you learn this program - it is intuitive, but I did not grow up with computers so I need to watch some videos to help with the learning process.

This project was designed for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge 189 using the sketch which you can see below.

I feel like I am technology challenged so feel quite proud of myself to have completed this card front using MDS available from Stampin' Up!.  I can print the card at home or send it off to SU to print..

With this project, I learned how to resize and recolor embellishments, resize punches and fill them with paper, and even found out that I can use the watermark feature on the color palette. This creates the same effect as stamping with versamark on cardstock.  Woo Hoo!

I used the Rise & Shine Pocket Cards download for the sentiment and the card bubble that the sentiment is 'stamped' on.  Will be using those Pocket Cards in the future - they are great sentiments!

MDS is only $19.95 or you can dowlnoad the program for a 30 day FREE  trial.  Your 30 day trial begins the day that you first open the program, not the day that you downloaded it.  If you want to keep the program after the trial period, then you pay for it.  You will be able to access the projects you created  even if you don't purchase MDS after the free trial.  It's a win-win!  What are you waiting for?

Purchase MDS during Sale-a-bration and choose the one of the Digital options for your FREE item when you place a $50 order during the promotion which ends on March 31st.

Leave a comment below and let me know if you are a paper/stamps/ink or digital crafter.

Thanks for stopping by!

Digital Color Challenge

My first project using My Digital Studio 2+. is a tribute to my daughter.  I've loved the stamp set, Daring Adventure from the first time I saw it, but had not purchased it yet.  So when I took the plunge into the digital world, I was happy to see that it was included in the MDS2+.

I created this project with my daughter in mind.  She has lived in Australia for 2 years, in the Galapagus Islands for 1 year, when she was at the Charles Darwin Research Station, and on mainland Ecuador for 1 year when she taught at a high school.  Currently she is in California, pursuing a PhD in Biological Oceanography from Scripps Institute of Oceanography, part of University of  California - San Diego.  She is living her dream and I am proud of her!

I submitted this project for the DigiChallenge sponsored by Nicole Watt on her blog Impressions By Nicole which you can visit  here.  The IBN-DC007: Color Challenge was to use Island Indigo, Summer Starfruit, and Soft Suede in a project.

Going digital - not as scary as it might seem.  There are lots of training videos available on the SU website.  You can try My Digital Studio FREE for 30 days! Click here for more information.
