Joy Fold Card

A card to say "Congratulations" is usually joyful so I decided to do a Joy Fold Card. I like this folding technique and it's really quite easy.

Paisley Petals was the DSP I chose for this card. It had been a long time since I had pulled this out. I think I've been pulling out a lot of things I don't use often enough lately and I need to continue to do this. Do you ever forget you have things? I have even found myself surprised lately by a couple of things I had that I had completely forgotten about! I'm glad I didn't re-order them. Anyhow, I like to use a larger print on the back panel for this particular style of card and smaller prints on the smaller panels. The Old Olive Card Stock was cut at 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" and scored at 5 1/2". The DSP for this was cut at 4" x 5 1/4".  The DSP for the top of the Old Olive piece was cut to 4" x 2 3/4". The smaller portion of the card is a piece of Not Quite Navy Card Stock cut at 3" x 8" and scored at 4". Both the DSP for the top and the Whisper White Card Stock for the interior were cut at 2 3/4" x 3 3/4". The top sentiment is from Friendly Phrases and stamped in Not Quite Navy ink. Then the Curly Label Punch was used to punch it out. The Cherry Cobbler Card Stock backing this was cut using the Movers and Shapers Curly Label for the Big Shot. Inside "Congratulations" from Curly Cute was stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink. An Antique Brad was used to hold the top layer down. I have really used a lot of these brads and I can't tell you how many I have bought! Now to write a note and get these in the mail to two friends who have recently accomplished some terrific promotions!

Pull out something you haven't used in a while and try a Joy Fold card yourself. Please feel free to email me with any questions.

Sale-a-bration Starts Today!

Finally, Sale-a-bration has started!! You will love all of the beautiful selections Stampin' Up! has to offer this year! I know I do! And to prove it, today's card is all about SAB product!

Today's start of Pool Party Card Stock is certainly appropriate here! It's been raining all day and we could swim in the creek behind our house if it was warm enough! This Everyday Enchantment DSP is to die for! Everytime I pick up a sheet to use I'm not sure if I want to cut into it because I like the other side too! It's a sickness, isn't it?!  I did manage to part with a piece for this card. A Pool Party label was cut with a Label Framelit on the Big Shot. The label was distressed with Soft Suede ink and a Stampin' Sponge. All the stamped images are from a SAB stamp set called Elementary Elegance. The sentiment was stamped in Soft Suede right on the label. Lucky Limeade Card Stock was used for the focal image. It was stamped in Whisper White Craft Ink, covered with Whisper White Stampin' Emboss Powder and embossed with the Heat Tool. It was trimmed out with Paper Snips and the center was punched out with the Curly Label Punch and layered over the sentiment on the label with Stampin' Dimensionals. The flower was made with Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon. A knot was tied in one end and then the ribbon was twisted and wound around the knot before attaching it to a 1" circle that had been cut out of a Sticky Sheet. The sweet Lucky Limeade bird is another image from Elementary Elegance and he was stamped on a Mini Vintage Tag. The string on the tag was cut so a Trinket Key and a Trinket Crown could be added and then it was tied around the ribbon. The tag is held in place with another Stampin' Dimensional. Nursery Nest

Good Monday Morning to you!! I hope you had a good weekend. Weekends always pass by too quickly. This card is one I made last week and it was my first attempt at the PPA Sketch Challenge! I love Nursery Nest DSP and the Aviary stamp set.  I used both of them in my second attempt at the PPA Challenge.  (My first attempt has not made its way onto a full card yet so my third try was what I finally submitted!)

Basic Gray  really makes a great complementary color for so many Stampin' Up! colors like Blushing Bride and all the pinks, Daffodil Delight and of course the colors in this DSP. So that's how this card begins, with Basic Gray Card Stock. Two pieced of Nursery Nest DSP were layered on next. The piece of Rick Rack was cut from Marina Mist Card Stock using the Tasteful Trim Die for the Big Shot and placed down the line where the DSP met. The bird cage image from Aviary was stamped in Basic Gray ink and then the little bird was stamped inside using Pear Pizzazz ink on Whisper White Card Stock. Next this image was embossed on the Big Shot using the Oval Frame Embossing Folder. Once embossed, it was trimmed out with Paper Snips and the edge was sponged with Marina Mist ink. The banner is from Take it to Heart and stamped in Basic Gray ink and the edges colored with a Marina Mist Stampin' Write Marker. The sentiment was pieced together with words from Fabulous Phrases and stamped in Pear Pizzazz ink. The banner is attached to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. This was done so the piece of 1/8" Marina Mist Tafetta Ribbon would easily loop around it and attach to the Oval Frame and the Pear Pizzazz Glimmer Brad at the top of the bird cage.  This little bird family already has a framed picture of their newest member hanging right on their wall!

Tomorrow is it!! Sale-a-bration begins!! Do you have your list ready??? I do! :)

FMS 18 - Another Challenge!

Happy Friday! We're already through the third week in January and it's hard to believe! Sale-a-bration starts Tuesday! Have you made made your list so you can take advantage of SAB next week?

I decided to participate in the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge again this week. It's not like I'm not challenged, believe me! Their sketches are CAS, right up my alley! I suddenly realized that the 2011-12 In Colors will retire soon and chose to work with them for this challenge. I'll miss these colors when they go!

Concord Crush Card Stock started this card. Pear Pizzazz DSP from the Patterns Paper Stack is the next layer. I've been using these a lot lately. Delicate Doily images were stamped in Poppy Parade, Concord Crush and Pear Pizzazz ink and then punched out. Again, it's so nice to have co-ordinating punches. Circle punches in 1 3/4" and 2 1/2" and the DoilyTriple Layer Punch were used here. The top doily has a little bling by way of a Glimmer Brad in Concord Crush and it's attached with Stampin' Dimensionals. To back all the doilies up is a Concord Crush Scallop Cirlce embossed with Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder on the Big Shot. Poppy Parade makes another appearance in the  Poly-Stitched Ribbon across the bottom of the card. The folds were stapled in place. The sentiment is from You're My Type and then punched out with the Decorative Label Punch, cut in half and stuck under the ribbon just so it peaks out a little bit.

I hope you'll come back Monday and if you have a little time this weekend check out my on-line store here to get your SAB list together. Have a great weekend and happy stamping!
